CATHOLICS URGED TO READ THE BIBLE
Catholic Christians in the country have been urged to love reading the Word of God every day for them to enjoy life with God’s guidance have strong faith.
This was said by Rev Fr. Vincent Mwakhwawa on Bible Sunday, which marked the launch of the Bible month of September.
The month of September was set aside by the Catholic bishops as a Bible month to assist Catholics to understand the importance of the Bible in their lives.
Fr. Mwakhwawa said as Christians, we tend to be carried away by the things of this world and forget to take care of the Spirit.
“Let us all remember that as we live; the body tends to suppress the Spirit because we are lazy to the things of Spiritual benefit. We feed the body so much and forget the Spirit. Today and the whole Bible month, we are being reminded to prioritize feeding the Spirit by reading the Bible and meditating on the Word of Life”. Said Fr. Mwakhwawa
According to a statement released by the Pastoral Commission of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM), all Catholics are encouraged to own a Bible, read, meditate and act on the Word of God.
“The Priests, Religious, Christians and the faithful during this month of September, are encouraged to share the Book of Amos and pray for the World especially at Small Christian Community and devotional groups”. Reads part of the statement
Some of the activities being carried out during the month include Bible procession, Open air Holy Mass on Bible Sunday and Bible enthronement and veneration.
The Bible month is being observed under the theme “Listening and discerning the Word of God together.”
