PICTORIAL FOCUS – SEMINARIANS

As the world is developing in different sectors such as the dynamics of communication and technology different stakeholders have to move with the world in order to make communication effective and relevant. And the Church is not spared. That is why 27th February – 2nd March 2012 will remain fruitful as it was time when Major Seminarians at St. Peter’s Senior Seminary in Zomba underwent a Workshop on Communication.

The Workshop was facilitated by Sr. Helen Kasaka, the Head of Social Communications Department at the Catholic Secretariat in Lilongwe. During the workshop, the Facilitator hinted on Integrity, Stewardship, Time Management, Accountability and Transparency of the Communicator just to mention but a few.

Asked why the Seminary organised this workshop for the students, Fr. Clement Chimwala, Rector of the Institution said “It is of vital importance because we look at communication as the centre of Evangelisation. It is part of the formation of future priests that they should learn communication skills in order to effectively communicate the word of God to the people of God.”

At the end of the workshop the participants, happily expressed the fruitfulness of the workshop as they have gained skills in communication which include: how to source information, professionalism in disseminating information, and objectivity in communication. It is in the hope of the seminarians that they will be good and effective communicators.
It is the tradition of the Seminary to hold various workshops. For instance, in the past years other workshops have been conducted on Political Governance, Economic Governance and HIV/AIDS and Counselling. All these form an integral part of the formation Programme of future priests.
