PONTIFICAL MISSION SOCIETIES IN A REVIEW MEETING-‘Contributions up by 9%’

The Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Malawi is holding its Review and planning meeting at Nkhata-bay Catechetical Centre in Mzuzu Diocese. The meeting started on Monday 4th March and will conclude on Friday the 8th March 2024.

Reverend Fr. Peter Madeya, the National Director of PMS in Malawi, had this to say, “We are expected to receive Quartey reports of the Missionary activities from all PMS offices both at National and Diocesan level, there after we intend to map the way forward, especially strategizing the forth-coming events of PMS in this liturgical year” .

In His opening remarks, His Lordship Yohane Nyirenda, the Auxiliary Bishop of Mzuzu Diocese, implored all Diocesan PMS Directors to hard and prioritise the task of animating and forming the people of God about the Societies of PMS as it has been observed that more people have no or little knowledge of PMS and its activities. “The animation sessions will help the local Church to be more self-propagating and reliant hence broadening PMS collections in the coming few years”, Observed Bishop Nyirenda.

On a positive note, Fr Madeya was quick to gladly announce that PMS Contributions which are sent to the Universal Solidarity Fund in Rome have increased with 9%. He has expressed gratitude to all dioceses in the country for offering generously and is optimistic that the local Church will even do more and better this year.

Present at this meeting are all Diocesan Directors and national office of PMS in Malawi. The meeting will conclude this coming Friday with ‘Visits’ and appreciation to all PMS funded Projects in the Diocese of Mzuzu.
