NEW APOSTOLIC NUNCIO FOR ZAMBIA AND MALAWI TO ARRIVE IN THE COUNTRY TODAY
The new Apostolic Nuncio to Zambia and Malawi, Mons. Gian Luca Perici, will arrive in the country today the 6th of November, 2023 via Kamuzu International Airport (KIA).
The Chairman of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM), His Lordship Archbishop George Desmond Tambala will lead Bishops, Priests, Sisters, Brothers, and other Christians to receive the Nuncio this afternoon.
The Nuncio is expected to submit diplomatic letters to the Head of State, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on the 7th of November, 2023 at the State House in Lilongwe.
Pope Francis appointed Mons. Gian Luca Perici as Nuncio to Malawi and Zambia on June 5, 2023. He replaces Mons. Gian Franco Gallone Mexico who was sent to serve in Uruguay.
Mons. Gian Luca Perici has also served as Nuncio in Mexico, Malta, Angola, Brazil, Sweden, Spain and Portugal. He was born on the 17th of September 1964 and was ordained Priest in Italy on the 21st of September 1991 and started his diplomatic journey in the year 2001.
