Children from different Parishes in Malawi joined the rest of the world to Pray Rosary for One Million Children on Sunday 17th October 2021.

According to the Diocesan Director of Pontifical Mission Societies in Lilongwe Archdiocese, Fr Francis Lekaleka, the day was organized to bring the children together to pray for peace and unity in the world, as well as to celebrate their calling as evangelists to fellow children.

“The Rosary prayers for one million children in the world are an initiative that helps Children to gather and pray for peace and unity in the whole world. It also helps the children to grow with the understanding that they need peace in their own heart and unite with others in the world,” said Fr Lekaleka

Fr Lekaleka also told the children to value Prayer life because it has the power to change the world.

“Children should know that God loves them, that’s why Jesus the Son of God, was once a Child. And when he grew up, to those who wanted to stop children from meeting him, he said, ‘let the children come to me, do not stop them’. God hears the prayers of children. So, Children should value prayer more, and through the intercession of our Mother Mary, this world is going to be transformed. The Rosary crusade prayers demonstrate that in children there is power and their can change the world.

The National PMS Director Fr. Vincent Mwakhwawa called upon parents to encourage their children to take prayer life seriously and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“I encourage all parents to realize that children are a gift from God, given to the world and to the Church. We are supposed to raise them up according to God’s will. Parents have the duty and obligation to be first evangelists to their children. They must also teach them to pray for fellow children, parents and the Church,” said Fr. Mwakhwawa.

One of the Children from Utatu Oyera Parish in Lilongwe Archdiocese, who participated in the rosary prayers, Praise Gama, encouraged his fellow children to always dedicate themselves to missionary activities.

“I encourage fellow children to always pray for peace and unity in their families and the whole world,” said Gama.

Praise also advised Parents to allow their children to go to Church and attend Catechism classes (Tilitonse Lesson) and pray together with their friends.

One million children prayed the Rosary for peace – peace among countries, in families, in their hearts, in Schools, Hospitals, Parishes and Communities.
