The Catholic Secretariat of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) regrets to announce the death of the Bishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, Right Reverend Felix Eugenio Mkhori.

The Right Reverend Felix Eugenio Mkhori passed away early this morning (27th October, 2012) at Mwayi Wathu Private Hospital in Blantyre, having been admitted at the same hospital on Saturday, 13th October, 2012.

Bishop Mkhori was born on 24th August, 1931, and ordained priest on 8th September, 1961. He was consecrated Bishop on 8th January, 1978 and served as Bishop of Chikwawa until 23rd January, 2001 when he became Bishop of the Diocese of Lilongwe. He retired from the pastoral office of Bishop of Lilongwe on 4th July, in 2007 and lived in St. Montfort, Nchalo until the time of his departure.

Burial of the late Bishop Mkhori will be on Wednesday, 31st October, 2012 at Chikwawa Cathedral starting with Holy Mass at 9:30 am. A detailed programme will be released later.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
