‘BE LED BY THE WORD OF GOD AND LEARN FROM THE EXEMPLARY HUMBLE LIFE OF MARY’.

BISHOP ALFRED CHAIMA ENCOURAGES ATUMIKI ACHIFUNDO

On Tuesday the 16th January, 2024, the Bishop of Zomba Diocese His Lordship, Rt. Rv. Alfred Chaima met Atumiki Achifundo lay movement from within his Diocese.

This is a group that has Marian spirituality and emulate Mary who showed charity by visiting her cousin Elizabeth.  They make contributions and help the needy. Among other practical projects they have done in the year 2023 include but; paying school fees and bought learning materials to some needy learners, building houses for some elderly members of various communities and also visiting the sick.

In his remark Bishop Chaima thanked them for what they are to the Church. “I encourage you to be led by the Word of God and to indeed learn from the exemplary humble life of our Mother Mary”. He Further encouraged them to sow the seeds of love wherever they are from their own families as “charity begins at home”. He also advised them to work with all Church groups and to be obedient to their pastors who take of their spiritual needs in the Parishes they come from.

Atumiki a Chifundo is a group that started in Zomba Diocese in 2006. Currently it has members from 12 parishes out of the 20 Parishes that are in Zomba. Recently, they have been interacting and working together with a similar group that is found in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe.
