Hundreds thronged the grounds of Mlale novitiate of the Teresian Sisters of the Child Jesus where six nuns celebrated their service to God through Holy Mass that was led by Archbishop George Desmond Tambala of Lilongwe Archdiocese.
In a colorful event attended by scores of the religious and hundreds of Catholic Christians and people of good will, two took final vows, three silver jubilee, one diamond.
Sr. Veronica Zulu and Sr. Hendrina Kanama made final vows whereas Sr. Emily Akufa, Sr. Mary Aaron and Sr. Alice Bisai commemorated silver jubilee; but Sr. Terezita Chapamba, celebrated diamond jubilee.
Archbishop Tambala congratulated the six sisters of the congregation of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus for continuing to serve selflessly with passion and love for God, the Church and all other people.
“Congratulations. And congratulations Teresian Sisters for good work by the whole group. We follow the good work you do. We will pray for you that you have strength in your calling to serve even better,” he said.
In her remarks, Mother Superior Sr. Agnes Jonas, thanked God for the life of the six nuns noting what it meant to take last vows, serve for over 25 years in the congregation. She further expressed gratitude that Archbishop Tambala graced the occasion with his presence and actually led mass for the ceremony.
“We urge you to continue your love for prayer and getting more people to God…continue to show more of your skills…Let’s all help get others closer to God,” she said.
Sr. Jonas also had kind words for Bishop Peter Adrian Chifukwa of Dedza diocese who attended the ceremony and mass and also the ECM visiting-bishop of Davenport in Iowa, USA, Bishop Thomas Zinkula.
