Hundreds mourn journalist Patrick Nyalugwe

Hundreds of people from Balaka and else where on Wednesday bid fare well to Montfort Media Catholic journalist Patrick Nyalugwe who died on Tuesday morning at Balaka District Hospital after a short illness.

According to his elder brother Yohane Nyalugwe, the deceased died after a short illness. “It is so sad that we have lost him at this time and we are speechless about his death. He has left a big gap in our family, church, and his family as well,” said Yohane.

Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace Mangochi (CCJP) coordinator Bruno Banda said it is so sad that the commission has lost a person they worked together in different projects.

“He was a hard working man in all fields of his work, whether it was church work or other jobs. CCJP will greatly miss him,” Banda said.
Banda said Nyalugwe was instrumental in many projects that were coordinated by CCJP.

Supervisor of communication department at Montfort Media Joseph Kayira said he was saddened by the death of Nyalugwe.
“He was a hardworking man. His death has left us with a big gap in our department and the whole Montfort Media as well,” Kayira said.
He said that Nyalugwe was a man who liked striving for the best on his job.

Kayira added: “He was so passionate about his journalism career. He wrote stories about the church, democracy politics and social justice.”
Late Nyalugwe was laid to rest at Nyalugwe village Traditional Authority Kachenga in Balaka district. He is survived by a wife and three children.
