DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT
The Episcopal Conference of Malawi is saddened to announce the death of Rev. Fr. ROBERT TIYEZGE MWAUNGULU, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Mzuzu. Fr. Mwaungulu passed on yesterday, 29th October 2013 at St John’s Hospital in Mzuzu. He will be laid to rest on Thursday, 31st October 2013 at Katoto Cemetery. Funeral mass will start at 10:00 am at St. Peters Cathedral.
Fr. Mwaungulu was born on 10th March 1960 at Matete Viallage, T/A Mwaungulu, Karonga District. He was ordained priest on 5th August 1984 at St. Peters Cathedral. After his ordination, Fr. Mwaungulu served in the following parishes: Holy Cross Parish,(Nkhamenya) St. Patrick’s Seminary (Rumphi), St. Dennis Parish (Rumphi), St. Peter’s Cathedral (Mzuzu).
From 1999 to 2005 he was appointed the Secretary General of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM). In 2005 he was appointed the Executive Director of Ecumenical Counseling Centre (ECC). Until his death he was serving as Judicial Vicar of the Catholic Diocese of Mzuzu.

Just learnt of Fr Robert’s death. We were schooling in Canada at the same time. May he rest in peace. May the Church in Malawi and his family be consoled for loosing a priest who had so much to offer.
