ECM appoints Fr. Dr. Saindi as new Secretary General

Fr-SaindiThe Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) has appointed Father. Dr. Henry Saindi as its new Secretary General.

The 42 year old Mangochi diocese priest replaces Fr. George Buleya whose tenure of office expired some months ago and is with the Catholic University as the Vice Chancellor.

According to the statement signed by Fr. Emmanuel Chimombo who was acting secretary general, the appointment is with effect from 17th June, 2015.

“We have every reason to rejoice and congratulate the new Secretary General as he assumes this demanding but noble ministry in the Catholic Church in Malawi. We wish him abundant God’s blessings,” reads part of the statement.

Fr Saindi, who was ordained priest in 2000 was Director of Radio Maria Malawi between 2001 and 2009.He then went to study a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy from 2009 to 2011.

He further pursued a Masters Degree in Social Sciences with specialization in Social Communications. He has just finished his Doctorate in Social Communications.

Fr. Saindi, born on May 4, 1973 hails from Chabwera Village in the area of Traditional Authority Liwonde in Namandanje Parish,Machinga district.

    1. Congratulations on your noble appointment Father. We are happy for you and may the Holy Spirit guide you as he always did while you served at Radio Maria Malawi. Nothing fails under the mantle of the Lord our guide and director in all our daily roles, challenging or not… he remains our pillar even in the most feared positions, I trust you will serve him well with him as your daily flag carrier to the people of God amidst the voiceless in the Apostolic work as a servant of God.
