ARCHBISHOP THOMAS LUKE MSUSA APPLAUDS CATHOLIC FAITHFUL AFTER SUCCESSFUL CELEBRATION OF WORLD MISSION MONTH 2020

October 2020 was no ordinary month for the Catholic Church in Malawi. It was an extraordinary month that was set aside by the Catholic Church across the globe for Mission Month.

This year, the climax of the month was October 18 which happened to be Mission Sunday for this year.

In Malawi, the road to the day took almost 3 months with radio programs that built the momentum for the day.

Speaking on the sidelines of the month, Bishop Chairman for Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa of Blantyre Archdiocese applauded the clergy and laity for being proactive in ensuring that the Church continue to spread the Word far and wide.

Most Rev. Msusa said despite the Coronavirus pandemic, Catholics stood their ground and made sure that Mission Month comes into fruition.

“Our priests, Sisters and the Church at large in the country played a critical role in all 8 dioceses to make sure that the Word of God is spread. Christians stood their ground in prayer and contribution and I am quite sure that whatever has been contributed will help spread the Word of God. It is my prayer that the unity expressed this year may remain in our hearts now and forever,” he said.

On the surge of cases of rape, defilement and murder of the elderly that are being reported in the country, Archbishop Msusa who is Chairman of ECM called on all Catholics and Malawians to waver in prayers, citing the teachings in the Mission Month of October as a guiding tool in the daily lives of Christians.
