Mzuzu Diocese is one of the eight Catholic Dioceses in Malawi and a member of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi(ECM).

HISTORICAL NOTES:

The Prefecture Apostolic of Northern Malawi was erected on 18th May, (Decree 8th May 1947). It was a division of the Vicariate Apostolic of Malawi. On 3rd March 1961, then was raised to the status of North Nyasa Prefecture. The late  Right Rev. Marcel St. Denis was the first elected prefect apostolic by the Holy See.

PRESENT/LOCAL ORDINARY

Msgr. Albert Michael Muwowo, diocesan priest, was ordained on 11th August, 1985 at St. Theresa Parish, Katete and appointed Vicar General on 6th May, 1995. On 23rd January,2015  was appointed Administrator of the diocese.
