Bishops meet for their second plenary this year

The Bishops that include Archbishops; Thomas Msusa and Tarcisius Ziyaye of Blantyre and Lilongwe Archdioceses respectively, their Lordships Peter Musikuwa (Chikwawa),George Tambala (Zomba),Montfort Stima (Mangochi),Emmanuel Kanyama (Dedza),Martin Mtumbuka (Karonga) and Monsignor Michael Muwowo of Mzuzu diocese. His Excellency Most Reverend Julio Murat, Apostolic Nuncio to Malawi and Zambia is also in attendance.
ECM Secretary General, Reverend Fr. Dr. Henry Saindi in a Press Statement released on Tuesday last week said the conference also reflected on the hunger situation and looked at some possible interventions.
“They will also discuss matters pertaining to priestly formation in the Seminaries, receive update reports from the Catholic University of Malawi (CUNIMA), appraise the conference on the socio-political and economic situation like the issue of people with albinism among others,” said Fr. Saindi.
He said the Bishops also received progress and status reports from the Association of Women in Religious life in Malawi, Association of Men Religious in Malawi and Association of Diocesan Clergy of Malawi,” reads part of the statement.
Other Church stakeholders that presented their reports before the Bishops included; the National Laity Council, Catholic Women Organisation, Christian Health Association of Malawi and the Ecumenical Counseling Centre.
ECM meets twice every year thus in January and June.
